Concept of the months August and September 2012: BALCONY

For about a decade, I have had an electric toothbrush. In the beginning, I thought it was funny how the letters on Ceefax seemed to dance around when you were reading and brushing at the same time. Now I mainly get annoyed by the drops of toothpaste that tend to end up on my clothes. But thatís because of my own clumsiness. Itís the opposite in the case of another recurring issue. This concerns the pigeons that insist on landing on my balcony.

Yet I am quite pleased to have this balcony. It faces southeast and only the side towards the street is open. There, the sun will beg me to open the curtains, just as the rain will warn me to stay indoors. Itís a great place to get some air on busy days and to sit down on quiet moments.

The sliding door is usually open. It will be closed most of the time from next month on. Still, there is plenty to see. A gull crying because heís to far away from the sea, pigeons cuddling up on the opposite wall, magpies drawing parabolas in the sky, a black cat thatÖ My girl is calling! She wants me to come out. Into the morning sun on our balcony.
