Concept of the month October 2010: SIDE ISSUES

Being a freelancer, I mostly work at home. This comes with obvious advantages and disadvantages. Distraction is lurking each day. This can both provide inspiration and cause delay. Once the blinkers of absolute concentration are down, the stage opens up wide for so-called side issues.

Sometimes, it is not clear whether something qualifies as a side issue. The other day, for instance, I took some time to embellish my invoices by modifying the cell edges. It goes without saying that it is important for my invoices to look polished, but it remains an issue concerning the edges or sides. This raises the question whether a side issue can be a main issue at the same time. If it can, then a side issue is something else than a marginal issue. That would make sense, as I donít believe in synonymy. Two words never mean the same.

In short, side issues can be quite important. That is because everything as different sides, including cores. Nothing is worth anything without its different sides. Fiddling around between times nourishes my zest for work. That to me is the beauty of being a freelancer. Effort thanks to relaxation. Long live side issues!
