Concept of the month February 2010: FLANNEL
A couple of weeks from now, I’ll be visiting the part of Andalusia where I lived five years ago. Due to my height, people will ask me again whether I play basketball. I will answer them that I prefer football. However, there is one basketball move I perform on a regular basis, which involves a
flannel.
First, allow me explain something about the flannel. While being perfectly common in The Netherlands, it is quite difficult to find one in Spain. I don’t have a clue why, but those are the facts. A flannel is a fingerless mitten made of terry cloth. It is meant to wash your entire body with. When sweating severely or having a fever, Dutch people usually “wipe a flannel across their face”. In other countries, holding your entire head under running cold water seems to be the only solution.
Now for the link with basketball. After soaping up – using the flannel- before taking a shower, I want to toss the flannel into the sink. To make this more fun, I do this by making a
dunk shot. The shower curtain rail serves as the ring. Hanging at own risk.
